Dr. Angayar Kanni Ramaiah

Dr Angayar Kanni Ramaiah is a Professor of Commercial Law and Hospitality and Tourism Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Technology MARA, Malaysia. She obtained her PhD from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). In addition to her doctorate, Dr Ramaiah holds a Master of Laws from the University of Malaya (UM) and is qualified by the University of London. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2006. Her professional journey began as a Research Officer for the Malaysian Backbenchers in the Parliament of Malaysia. Dr Ramaiah subsequently transitioned into academia and has served as a law lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA for 30 years.\n\nDr Ramaiah is recognised for her expertise in commercial law, hospitality and tourism law, constitutional law, and competition law and policy within ASEAN, the European Union, and the United States. Her research interests include hospitality law, sustainable homestays, Halal food concepts, Muslim-friendly tourism, and the development of competition law policy in ASEAN. She also serves as the legal adviser to the university's students' disciplinary board, drafts MOUs and MOAs, and handles matters related to employee safety and liability arising from university tender contracts.\n\nThroughout her career, Dr Ramaiah has actively participated in conferences as a speaker, invited panellist, and guest presenter at both national and international forums. She has engaged in roundtable discussions and published numerous articles, both independently and collaboratively.\n\nHer academic accomplishments include publishing in reputable international and national journals and serving as a reviewer, editorial board member, and scientific committee member for various conferences. She has received multiple grants and awards recognising her exceptional service to the university, scholarly publications, and international research presentations.\n\nDr Angayar Kanni Ramaiah is a sought-after keynote speaker and session chair. Her current research interest focuses on "Unfair Trade Practices in the Digital Marketplace," particularly under Theme 13.
